Hacked iPhone: what you should know prior to proceed

For those of you who -- like us -- wanted to activate his iPhone in order to get rid of AT&T -- or simply wanted to use it in a foreign country, here is what you must know.

We easily did it on an iPhone we bought in the US for use in France. After three days of use we noticed a number of limitations.

Basically, you get a WIFI connection that you can use to do Web surfing, use google maps, view weather forecasts, etc. That's nice. But you won't have a number of features.

First of all, but it's obvious, you won't have any phone feature (no call, no voicemail, no SMS, etc.).

No YouTube either. For some reasons -- anyone has clues? -- YouTube is only available throughout a GSM connection, sick! Fortunately, you can use alternative: For example, iphone.dailymotion.com has converted its videos to MP4 format available thru Quicktime. Get there and enjoy then!

No bluetooth discovery. While this is uncertain that it has anything to do with the fake activation, my iPhone is unable to discover any device around. If I try to pair it from a MacBook for example, it works, but unfortunately no services are offered by the iPhone. You can't browse its content.

Finally, some people claim to have succeeded to activate their iPhone thru their Vodafone account. I tried to contact one, but he did not give any precise answer about the methodology he has supposedly followed.
